I love the simplicity but also the complexity of this drawing.

Art Challenge #9
Drawing done with a 3h and HB pencil. I am still trying to perfect my skills with drawing portraits. There are aspects of the picture I like, the purposely big eyes but there are also aspects which I would render differently, like the angle of the nose.

Is my art good enough?
I don’t know about you but there are times I look over my artwork and say to myself, “Is this stuff really good enough to be put out there for the world to see?” My reply is always,”Does it really matter?” As an artist I am compelled to create. I don’t always understand where the inspiration comes from. I only know it drives me to create and more than not what I set out t0 create does not resemble the finished piece. This leads me to the point of this little point of inspiration. I have learned over the years to trust the creative process more than I put stock in the opinions of those who do not like my artwork.
Tree over the mountain
Love the beauty in the lights and darks of this photo
This is now the wallpaper on my mobile.
Happy new year! My first post for 2017 is another favorite from last year. This became a favorite during post processing though, when I had the idea to make the tree leaves light against a dark sky, instead of the opposite, which was my original idea when taking the shot.
