Another doodle presented to you entitled “Blue Flower Pot and Buds.” I love these sim0listic looking doodles and I plan to offer up some more as the year goes on. Maybe I will improve my digital art skills.

I have just started experimenting with colored pencil this year. I have used pastels before and thought the colored pencils would blend in a similar manner to the colored pencils but boy was I wrong. Colored pencils I have found have a temperament all their own but I am having fun learning what I can and can’t do with pencils. In that light today’s drawing entitled “Flowers in Boot” I had started last year but finished for this challenge. Please forgive me for bending the rules just a little.
Love this bloggers work

Recently I saw some blue pen drawings on Pinterest which fascinated my artistic stirrings. While today’s offering “Blue Vase/Red Flowers” has some aspects of what I saw on Pinterest I added some colored pencil to give it a little contrast.

Today I decided to offer up a simple picture entitled The Butterfly. The picture is a simple pencil outline filled in with colored pencil. I guess what I don’t care about are the colors in the background and the way it appears to me as unrefined. I have done another version done in acrylics on Pinterest. Neither of these pictures I am enamored with and I know sometime in the future I will revisit them and redo them.
A good article on the need to see values (the artistic kind} in all the art work we create. Unless you’re creating a monochrome painting values help a painting pop.
A month ago I posted a drawing of an enormous hornet’s nest that took both a considerable amount of time to draw, as well as space on my kitchen table while doing so. Shortly thereafter a friend suggested that I had drawn it upside down! The opening on a hornet’s nest is typically at the bottom which, apparently, helps keep rain out, and I had drawn it at the top. Solving the problem wasn’t a simple matter of turning the drawing around— the shading and composition simply didn’t hold up when the drawing was flipped. So, with reluctance, I went back to the drawing board, as they say, for another go.
Although this piece took just about as long as the first one—15+ hours over the course of two weeks— I was able to take what I learned the last time and push the drawing further. The best part of…
