1001 Drawings #339, Look At All the Christmas Lights

One of my favorite funny songs of the Christmas season is, “The 12 Pains of Christmas.” It is a song about all the things which can wrong at this time of the years. One of them is stringing up the Christmas lights. If you’ve ever done it before you know what I’m talking about. The lights can be all tangled together or in the old days when one light went out the rest would go out. Today however most Christmas lights are made to stay on when one of them isn’t working. This goes a long way to insuring that the light will still shine no matter what.

I think our life is like the Christmas lights. There are times when our life is a tangled up mess that has to be unraveled. Once that is done even though one bulb may be out but because of the Holy Spirit inside us our light from the faith we have in God still shines forth for all to see.

1001 Drawings #336, Homage To The Christmas Tree

Ever since I can remember my home has been decorated with lights and has had a Christmas tree. The origin of the Christmas tree as it now stands is tied in part to some Non-Christian traditions and has gone through many incarnations over the years. If you would like to read more about those traditions in order to make up your own mind about the Christmas tree check out this article on History.com. While the Christmas tree may be to some not a true representation of the spirit of this season and the birth of Jesus it is still a part of many a Christian’s home.

Another Christmas in the rear view mirror

Well Christmas 2016 is in the books and it’s time to turn our attention to the New Year. If you’re like me thoughts turn to making New Years resolutions. I used to come up with some of the usual resolutions, lose weight, become more financially sound among many others.

As time went on I cut back on the resolutions and set my sights on being the best person I can be towards others. As an artist I create what others will see so I need to be the inspiration for others to create their own art. Being self centered or elusive will only cause others to turn away.

So in the New Year don’t make resolutions make friends and keep creating art.

Thomas Kinkade gone but not forgotten

This time of year I am reminded of one of mychrnewfavorite artists, Thomas Kinkade. The reason is the guy could create some sensational artwork filled with light and color. His paintings also feel welcoming and warm just like the true spirit of the holidays.

Like the painting of the Rockefeller Skaters Kinkade’s paintings seem as if you could step into them and become part of whatever holiday festivities are going on.

What better way to get into a festive mood for the Christmas season than takings in some beautiful artwork. For more Kincade artwork click here.
