I have enjoyed doing the year long drawing challenge so much so that I’ve decided already to continue on past this year. The new title is the 1001 Drawing Challenge. The current challenge will go forth unti the end of the year after that the new challenge will pick up with Drawing #366. The new challenge will not be a daily challenge but one of when I post the drawings. This is because I will also be doing a 52 Finished Art Work Challenge.
One of the things I love about art is the fact that it can be as simple as a pencil drawing or as complex as an oil painting. The choice is up to the artist. So if you create, create what you want just let inspiration take over.
I was born in West Virginia so have a fondness for all things to do with the mountains like a cabin in the woods. This is not to say I want to live in the mountains but I would love to visit and stay there for a few days at a time.The Bible tells us that all off God’s creation cries out His existence. This is one of the reasons I like the mountains because when I am deep in His creation I feel close to God.
I once read an article which talked about how an artist can enhance their skills in a certain area by doing a series of paintings. In another blog I am doing a 100 face challenge and in on Tumblr I am doing a series on cats. In this blog I am have not done much in the way of series except for the girls in dresses. I hope you enjoy this latest one.
When I was young you could find me on many nights looking up into the sky looking for falling stars. I believed in the old adage when you wish upon a falling star your wishes would come true. Since many of those wishes didn’t come true I guess I can give some of them away.
Like Charlie Brown I wished the girl who lived across the street from me would see me as her boyfriend. I wished to be one of the cool people at school. I wished to be good at something. These were only many of the wishes which went unanswered.
I know now many years later life is not about wishing on stars but putting your faith and trust in Jesus. He is the one who has the wisdom to guide me through life in order to avoid many of the pitfall which normally strike.
When I was but a wee lad up to my teen age years Halloween was was one of my favorite holidays. All day long sitting in school I would be candy dreaming, anxiously awaiting when my friends and I would go out trick or treating. While over the years Halloween became a holiday my family and I no longer celebrated because of our faith I still think back to those times. While as Christians we don’t partake of the holiday we can create a fall fun day where we get together and celebrate the fall season and God wonderful creation.
Back in the day if you wanted stay in touch with someone it meant either getting in your car and driving there or calling them on your rotary phone. What is a rotary phone well that is for another time. Today if you want to stay in touch with someone you have a variety of options which include but is not limited to Skype, Facetime and a lot of other options which means there is not excuse for not staying in touch with the ones you love.
While staying in touch in this world has changed staying in touch with God has not changed over the millennia. Prayer and reading God’s word and listening for God’s still quiet voice is the way to stay in touch with God. What, you’re not doing those things. Well you’ve missed out on a lot of time talking to the one who loves you the most.
Life is all about the line…sometimes those lines are very fine. It is up to us as Christians to decide how we are going to walk each of those lines through faith and trust in Jesus or by putting our faith in our own decisions.
