A #2 pencil drawing of course of a dog. I seem to have fallen into a doodling groove lately.

A #2 pencil drawing of course of a dog. I seem to have fallen into a doodling groove lately.

As little children some things seem bigger than they really are. Like that first let rabbit which at the time seemed so huge. My painting is an homage to,those days of huge vision. The painting is done in pastel and color pencil on a piece of 6×9 drawing paper. In our lives there are many problems which seem huge to us but when viewed through the eyes of God they are reduced to smaller problems.

Today I offer you the woman in red. The painting is done on 9×11 red card stock using some soft pastels and color pencils. The picture I used was a royalty free picture from Unsplash. I really like the way the picture turned out. There are only a couple things I would change.

This 6 x 9 closeup view of some daisies is done in soft pastel with some highlights of color pencil. I often think this is how God sees us not from far away but up. Lose and personal like these flowers. This makes me realize more how I have to self examine my daily walk so I am a good reflection of God to others.

Another in my series of churches. This one the Little Red Church is done on a 6 x 9 inch Strathmore drawing pad in soft pastels and color pencils. I like creating scenes with small church because they remind me that the church is much more than a building it is the people inside the building leaving through the doors in order to do God’s work in the world.

I really like the contrast of the colors in this picture. One of ,y favorite artists is VanGogh. I love the way he used shorts Burt’s if color to create a whole picture.i strived for a little of that here. I don’t know if I really succeeded or not. Oh well you know what they say, “If at first you don’t succeed try, try again.” or put another way practice makes you better. God does not want us to be quitters. He want us to run the race set before us until we reach the finish line.

I sometimes takes two pictures and make them one just to see what the outcome looks like. The picture of the girl on the beach is one. It is done in soft pastel and color pencil on a 6 x 9 whit drawing pad. Life is often like my picture two become one. Not just in marriage but there are times when God brings two people together for a moment, a season or a lifetime. Why? At times the reason are because we end them in our lives or they may need us. Other times the obvious reason isn’t’ there for us but maybe it is clear for the other person. The key is to embrace the people God puts you with even if you gave to give more than you receive.

I submit this as the third attempt at painting the Bree bottles with red tulips. The first two can be found at tbwhittart@wordpesss.com. The above painting was done on 6 x 9 drawing pad using soft pastels and color pencils.
I was reminded of something at small group on Friday. I have always looked at my artistic talent as lacking in some ways. The problem I discovered is that I compare my art to other artists who have been given different talents by God. I need to view myself in the light of the three people in the Parable of the Three Talents. God gives each of us different abilities and we are to use what we are given, talent wise, to the best of our abilities and not pine away or be saddened we may not be as good as someone else.

Every so often I am drawn to create a piece of what I call fashion doodle art. I pick a pose, then choose dress color and style then create the drawing. Today’s drawing is the end result this time. To create this one I used Prisma Color Pencils on a 9×11 old book page.
