#416 Life In A Goldfish Bowl

There are times in life I feel like I am living in a fish bowl. There are cameras everywhere watching our our movements when we venture out of our homes. Some people even have cameras in their homes because they want to feel more secure. I know the cameras are there to protect to protect the innocent and as long as you don’t break the law you have nothing to worry about. Still in the back of your mind you know someone is always watching. What is comforting however is know that God is always watching over us in good and bad times. Well it is comforting to those who know and love Him. So if you don’t there is no time like the present to get to know Him

1001 Drawings #364, Take the Time to Read

While on Christmas break from my job I have found myself doing something I haven’t done in a long time-reading. I have made my way through two books of fiction and several non fiction art books. One of my goals for next year is to spend more time reading books on drawing illustrations. The reason, many of my friends tell me they like a lot of my more simplistic illustrations. Let me know what you think.

Daily Drawing #285, What’s Hanging Over Your Head?

I don’t know about but there always seems to be something dangling just over my head. When I was a young child it was trying to find my niche in my peer group. Well I guess that never seems to go away. As I grew my area of concern was getting good grades in school and what college I wanted to attend. When I finished high school I ended up working in stead of college. The list of things dangling grew as I went to college later in life and tried to support a family. Well you get the idea. There are a lot of things dangling over out heads  The key as Jesus said is in Matthew 6:30-34:

“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Life is not guaranteed to be care free. The key to not be overtaken by the things danging over our heads is by putting our faith and trust in Jesus.

Daily Drawing #282, The People On My Street

I’ve written before about how Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors. The closest neighbors we have live right next door or right across the street. Growing up those neighbors were my best friends, the first girl I hung with and so much more. My neighbors were the ones I went to when I wanted to talk over things or when a good time was brewing, like a party. Sadly today in many neighborhoods our neighbors are just the people next door we may talk to from time to time. We need to reestablish the connections to our neighbors in order to make each community better.

Daily Drawing #276, Wharever Happened to the Fairytale Life?

I know I’ve mentioned before about my passion for the fantasy genre. I love the way teh genre takes you into imaginary worlds where the hero must save his kingdom from a great evil which comes about the land. Part of the fantasy genre which always seem to have a really happy ending, well unless you read Grimm’s Fairy Tales which do not always end but always seem end with a moral the characters need to learn. I always thought life would be like one of those fairy tales where there would be this great happy ending. I was half right this life will end for all of us some day. The happy ending will come to those who have asked Jesus into their hearts when we see Him in Heaven.

3 Reasons I Don’t Use Expensive Art Materials

When it comes to buying my art supplies the cheaper the better. I know this goes against all creative logic because as every artist know to create the best art pieces you need to spend some money on your supplies. I have my reasons for not spending mucho bucks on art supplies.

  1. I love the challenge of taking something which can be picked up at the local dollar or arts and crafts stores. I also like to draw and paint on old book pages because I am recycling something that might otherwise end up in the trash can.
  2. I experiment a lot with different art projects so it would be a waste to spend a fortune on art supplies for practice art pieces.
  3. I also like the availability of low cost art supplies because at this point in my life many times it is all I can afford until I start selling my artwork. This is why I seek out the bargains at a big box store or from a local arts and craft store.

These are the three main reasons I love to buy low cost art supplies. The main thing as an artist to remember it doesn’t matter what us in your hand when you create art as long as you’re creating.

Daily Drawing #263, Giving A Friend a Lift

One of the greatest treasures of this earthly life are our friends. As I have recorded in earlier writing I had some good friends in my life which came from my neighborhood, my school years, the years spent as a volunteer fire company, church and of course work. the sad news is almost all of those good friends not counting family and my wife are no longer part of my current life. Many of my past friendships I wish would have continued but sadly they didn’t. Only their memories are still there. So today I give to you this advice, hold onto your friendships as long as you can.
