The drawing is entitled, “An Homage to WV.” based on the prompt, Where you come from. I was born in the town of Mullens a long time ago. West Virginia is a place where you can go any direction for a few miles and find places to be alone or to commune with God in His open country. I have not been to visit my home state for a number of years but I hope to get back just to see the country side. If any of my relatives read this I miss you but you can me a holler on Facebook.
Today is Father’s Day. The prompt for today the word, “father,” of course. My picture entitled, “Me and My Dad,” is an homage to my father who passed on many years ago. It is a reflection back to the days when I would venture to the mountains of West Virginia to visit family. So all the fathers out there Happy Father’s Day.
The word prompt for today is window. I must admit because of time constraints I did a quick sketch of some eyes. The eyes they say are the windows to the soul. The next time you look into someone’s eyes see of you can tell what they are feeling. Words can lead you way but the eyes always tell the truth. So one word of warning be careful with oyur eyes.
Warm is the prompt word of the day and my daily offering is simply entitled, “A Summers Eve Camping Trip.” I have only been camping several times in my life and I can say for sure it is not one of my favorite things, even for a guy from West Virginia. While I may not like camping I do like summer and cool summer breezes. So if you like camping as part of your summertime festivities then go out and camp. God gives us the gift summer for three months so enjoy it wisely and safely.
We all have junkyards in our lives where we throw the things we think we are done with. These are the things we store in the back of our minds which come out every now and then to taunt our way of thinking. I know my junkyard has 6 things in it I would love to have hauled away:
I did not compile this list to be a Debbie downer or because I like to dwell on the negatives because I don’t. I try to seek out the positive in every situation.The list is meant to show you the danger of dwelling what is in our junkyards instead of seeking to learn from what has come before in order to make our live more satisfying.
Life is full of broken things especially broken hearts over the loves we lost, the people gone all to soon, life’s regrets and so much more. The key however is to find a way to mend the broken heart. It is not easy but the best solution can be found Corinthians
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
Love is the key. Seeking the love and comfort of God first and foremost and then seeking the love and support of friends and family. Broken hearts will come but the sooner we learn to deal with the them the sooner it will lessen the pain. I have learned the pain may not completely go away but the comfort of God and other sure help make it more bearable. The title of my drawing, “1,2 Many Broken Hearts.”
The prompt for today is the word, “shadow.” I love this quote from Austin O’Malley, “When walking through the ‘valley of shadows,’ remember, a shadow is cast by a Light.” When walking through the shadows of life we must always remember there is light in front of us to guide out way. Jesus said, “I am the truth, the way and the light.”
The prompt for today was the word,”garden.” The title of my little drawing is,”Flower By The Pond.” I have had to cut grass for as long as I can remember. In my current home I figured I would cut down on the grass mowing by adding flower beds. Well, to my dismay I discovered flower beds and gardens are tougher to take care of then mowing the grass.
You have to weed them, thin out the flower herds, and mulch them. Then you have to keep on weeding the gardens throughout the year. I know what you’re going to say, “Buy some of that some kind of weed be gone product or some of mesh fabric to cut back on the weeds.” Well I have and they only work for a limited time and then the weed come back. I am planning to cut back on my gardens this year and go back to more grass. I’d rather cut grass than weed.
Life is like a garden. If we are not careful the weeds will over take us and choke out the beautiful flowers which would otherwise grow. So tend you garden and live a life of beauty.
The drawing word prompt for today is, “background.” The title of my drawing is, “Black Cat in the Snow.” We live in a superficial society where everything is taken at face value. If we see what is right in front of our face and like what we see then it is okay in our book. There is an old adage that says, “You can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Literal translation, the details are not always obvious and are sometimes hidden in the background somewhere.
Throughout my lifetime, mystery novels have always been one of my favorite reads. Out of all the detectives in those novels my favorite detective has always been Sherlock Holmes. He is the master of observation. There is no detail he does not see those which are obvious and those found in the background. We need to be like Sherlock Holmes, no not detectives but people who look to the background and learn all the facts before we make a decision. The says in Proverbs 18:17, “The first to plead his case seems right, until another comes and examines him.” Learn to examine everything in life and you will make wise decisions leading to less hassles in life.
