One of my favorite old hymns is “The Old Rugged Cross.” I particularly love the line, “When I survey the wondrous cross,” because it causes me to once again contemplate what Jesus accomplished when He was crucified. I am a history and science guy so I have always believed what history tells of Jesus dying on the cross. It is as Paul Harvey used to say, “The rest of the story,” I had trouble reconciling with my nerdy science way of thinking. It was not until I contemplated the words of the Bible and sought to disprove them in my own science mindset that the truth of those words were revealed and I believed. All I can say is don’t take my word for the truth in God’s Word. Take the time to contemplate for yourself and then come to a decision in your heart.
