#431 Lady in Black

The latest in a series I am doing of feau fashion drawings. This one is on an old 8×11 book page. One again I used soft pastels and color pencil to create the design. The picture itself is an abstract of a girl walking on the beach during a sunset. While I am not a beach person I love the beauty of the beach area. All to many times we stay indoors instead of getting out and seeing the beauty of God’s creation. There is so much nature has to offer if only we take the time to look.

#430 Three Houses

Back in the day my favorite thing to paint was landscapes. Most of the one I did back then were more realistic than the one here. Today however I like the more whimsical drawings. The more abstract drawings. I don’t know why I just do. Maybe it is because I am older and at times life seems so much more serious I need a little whimsy now and then. Anyway other than maybe a portraiture expect some more whimsical art. Thank you to all those who regularly follow my art work. I really appreciate it. Tell your friends.

#429 Watching the Sunset

The painting started out as a soft pastel painting on 6×9 paper painting #1. I then used a photo editing app to create painting #2. I like the end result of both paintings. Life is like these paintings. Any times we set out to create one thing in life and it goes well. Then God, like the photo editing app puts our life through a different filter and we have a much better image (life) than the first one we chose to paint for ourselves.

#428 Sunflower

The sunflower is an interesting flower. As it grows it faces the sun even at times twisting itself towards the sunlight. The sunflower is a reminder to us that as followers of Jesus we must always keep our gaze towards the Son even twisting ourselves so our gaze does not waver. The painting is created on an 8×11 old book page in soft pastel and outlined in pen.

#427 Water Glass of Flowers

I like these abstract flower paintings because they give me 5e opportunity to use vibrant colors. These paintings are also a reminder of how life is full of colorful moments while temporarily we can carry them in our hearts for life. The painting is soft pastels on 9×12 paper stock.

#426 Flower In the Moonlight?

There are three things in life I truly love God, my family and friends and art. There is something about taking a blank piece of paper or a canvas and adding lines and co,or. In the end you have a created drawing which may or may not have turned out the way you wanted but you are still thrilled by your creation. The age old debate is whether we were created by God or not. I believe we were and in Genesis, before the fall, the Bible tells us that He loved His creation. Even after the creation was marred by sin He set into motion the plan to bring us back to Him. Skeptical? Then examine the evidence for yourself. The drawing today is done on a 7 1/2 by 11 1/2 old book page using soft pastels.

#425 Windswept Field

There are times when I see a painting and am inspired to try to create one with a similar theme. This picture was inspired by a painting by a Van Gogh painting. I try these paintings in order to increase my skills. In my judgement I have a long way to go. The key for me is not to try and be Van Gogh but to try and be the best myself I can. God does not look at us and say he can’t. No, God looks at us and says give me what you have and I will use those talents for my work.

#424 Red Flower In Vase

Life is like a flower. When you’re born you a bud waiting to bloom. As you grow and live to full bloom you are a beautiful flower showing off your true colors. In the winter of life you will go back to the ground leave no behind the small blooms (your children or those people you’ve touched throughout your life) to carry on. This is another in a series of large and small abstract flower pictures I am fond of doing. The drawing is done on 9×12 white paper using soft pastels.

#422 Flower In A Bowl

I like abstract art because the object is to create without restrictions. This one is done in soft pastel on 9×12 maroon paper. Life I think is abstract because we try to live like there are no restrictions. The problem is like the painting there are no clear definitions of how we should be living. That is why I am so thankful we have God’s Word because I can open the Bible and find a clear definition for living my life.
