The painting started out as a soft pastel painting on 6×9 paper painting #1. I then used a photo editing app to create painting #2. I like the end result of both paintings. Life is like these paintings. Any times we set out to create one thing in life and it goes well. Then God, like the photo editing app puts our life through a different filter and we have a much better image (life) than the first one we chose to paint for ourselves.

#425 Windswept Field
There are times when I see a painting and am inspired to try to create one with a similar theme. This picture was inspired by a painting by a Van Gogh painting. I try these paintings in order to increase my skills. In my judgement I have a long way to go. The key for me is not to try and be Van Gogh but to try and be the best myself I can. God does not look at us and say he can’t. No, God looks at us and says give me what you have and I will use those talents for my work.
#424 Red Flower In Vase
Life is like a flower. When you’re born you a bud waiting to bloom. As you grow and live to full bloom you are a beautiful flower showing off your true colors. In the winter of life you will go back to the ground leave no behind the small blooms (your children or those people you’ve touched throughout your life) to carry on. This is another in a series of large and small abstract flower pictures I am fond of doing. The drawing is done on 9×12 white paper using soft pastels.
#423 Sitting On The Step
Back in the day one of my favorite things was to sit on my porch and watch the world around me. Those times seemed a lot less stressful and a lot more fun. A recent reacquaintance with someone whom I held dear in my younger years and who is still dear to me to this day reminded me of the importance of holding onto those people who occupy a place in our hearts. God wants us to love Him first but to also love others around us especially those we love in our hearts. I think these porch time gatherings are a way to remember the joy of friendship. The drawing is done on color pencil and ink on a 9×12 old book page.

#416 Life In A Goldfish Bowl
There are times in life I feel like I am living in a fish bowl. There are cameras everywhere watching our our movements when we venture out of our homes. Some people even have cameras in their homes because they want to feel more secure. I know the cameras are there to protect to protect the innocent and as long as you don’t break the law you have nothing to worry about. Still in the back of your mind you know someone is always watching. What is comforting however is know that God is always watching over us in good and bad times. Well it is comforting to those who know and love Him. So if you don’t there is no time like the present to get to know Him

This is the newest entry in a series of paintings I’m doing with depictions of seated models. This one like the rest is on a 6 1/2 by 8 old book page. It is illustrated using soft pastels and color pencils. I hope you like the drawing. I have no message for today other than to say to get better at anything you must put your faith in God and trust Him to guide you.

Life is all about friendships. We were created to be social beings. The drawing is a 9×12 done in pastel and color pencil on white paper. The drawing depicts two friends one pouring her heart out while the other one listens. This is why we need friends. So we have someone to come alongside us in good times and bad.

I have been laid up the last week with the flu, super cold, whatever it was and a hard time getting up the energy to draw. So for today my entry is nothing more than a scribble drawing of a cardinal. I filled it in a little with color pencil. I hope you like it. I know it turned out better than I thought it would.
