The sunflower is an interesting flower. As it grows it faces the sun even at times twisting itself towards the sunlight. The sunflower is a reminder to us that as followers of Jesus we must always keep our gaze towards the Son even twisting ourselves so our gaze does not waver. The painting is created on an 8×11 old book page in soft pastel and outlined in pen.
There are times when I see a painting and am inspired to try to create one with a similar theme. This picture was inspired by a painting by a Van Gogh painting. I try these paintings in order to increase my skills. In my judgement I have a long way to go. The key for me is not to try and be Van Gogh but to try and be the best myself I can. God does not look at us and say he can’t. No, God looks at us and says give me what you have and I will use those talents for my work.
Life is like a flower. When you’re born you a bud waiting to bloom. As you grow and live to full bloom you are a beautiful flower showing off your true colors. In the winter of life you will go back to the ground leave no behind the small blooms (your children or those people you’ve touched throughout your life) to carry on. This is another in a series of large and small abstract flower pictures I am fond of doing. The drawing is done on 9×12 white paper using soft pastels.
Back in the day one of my favorite things was to sit on my porch and watch the world around me. Those times seemed a lot less stressful and a lot more fun. A recent reacquaintance with someone whom I held dear in my younger years and who is still dear to me to this day reminded me of the importance of holding onto those people who occupy a place in our hearts. God wants us to love Him first but to also love others around us especially those we love in our hearts. I think these porch time gatherings are a way to remember the joy of friendship. The drawing is done on color pencil and ink on a 9×12 old book page.
This is a drawing of a broken gate on an old country path. My original drawing is in the upper left corner. It was created using soft pastels and color pencils on an old 9×12 piece of manila paper. The other three pictures were created using a photo editing app called Photo2infinity. My favorite is the manga drawing in the upper right hand corner.
The broken gate is a reminder that as Christian paths we seek to take have gates broken by God so we cannot open them and stray from the course which is set for our lives. I also think there are times when we take it upon ourselves to push open the broken gates and take the wrong path. These end up being reminders to us how much we need to stay on God’s true path.
This is a practice drawing I created on a 9×12 white drawing pad using soft pastels and color pencils. The only thing I can say is practice will hopefully one day make not perfect but better. Enjoy your day and God bless.
I created this painting using a piece of 9×12 grey paper; 3 colors of grey and a black soft pastel. The flower is color pencil. In life there is always going to be times when there will be some rain. These are the times we can either draw closer to God or push Him away. The comfort comes in the fact no matter what when we come to God as He states in Hebrews, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” In the rainy times we need to look through the torrential downpour and see God right there before us.
There are times in life I feel like I am living in a fish bowl. There are cameras everywhere watching our our movements when we venture out of our homes. Some people even have cameras in their homes because they want to feel more secure. I know the cameras are there to protect to protect the innocent and as long as you don’t break the law you have nothing to worry about. Still in the back of your mind you know someone is always watching. What is comforting however is know that God is always watching over us in good and bad times. Well it is comforting to those who know and love Him. So if you don’t there is no time like the present to get to know Him
This is the newest entry in a series of paintings I’m doing with depictions of seated models. This one like the rest is on a 6 1/2 by 8 old book page. It is illustrated using soft pastels and color pencils. I hope you like the drawing.
