The woman is both happy and sad. The New Year has started the old one and its memories left behind. The sadness comes from memories but happiness comes with new memories to be made in the New Year. Little blue dress is a soft pastel painting created on a sheet of white 9×12 Stratford paper.

Another in my series of Nordic Gnome drawings I have entitled The Furst Gnome. Just for clarity The Furst Gnomes are a group of gnomes not just one. This one is on an old book page and rendered in soft pastels.

Illustration and cartooning has always been a passion of mine. Here is the third in a series of illustrations I am doing with my little clan I call the Furst Gnomes.

I enjoy creating pictures of cats. There is something about the little felines that piques my interest. Each cat has there own personality and way about them. The cats pictured were created with pastels one soft pastels the other oils.

The little whit cat sitting next to some tall flowers in a vase. The painting of course like some of my others was created on an old book page with pen and soft pastels.

Well I’ve reached the midway point of my 1001 drawings/paintings challenge. The two paintings today are of the same flowers and are both done on 6×9 inch Strathmore paper. The flower on the left was painted in soft pastels which were then lightly brushed with water. The one on the right was done using oil pastels. I like certain aspects of both but just like life there are things I’d like to redo. I hope you like them.

Today’s offering is actually an 18×24 soft pastel painting I started back in the 90’s. I found it in a portfolio and decided it needed to be finished. It started out as soft pastel but I added soft touches of oil pastels. The key to life is always finishing what you started. It may take a while but keep preserving.

The reference photo for this painting cones from Unsplash. The painting is a 6×9 oil pastel rendering on a Strathmore drawing pad. It is sad to say but summer my friends is coming to an end. Labor Day weekend is upon us. The Bible has many references to the seasons of the earth as well as the seasons of life. Like everything that comes our way we must enjoy them and use the time wisely because it is fleeting.
