An abstract painting of flowers created on an 8×11 old book page. I used hard pastels for the coffee pot then wet them with a paint brush. The flowers are also went hard pastel for the base color then used color pencil to add more color.

#479 The Fisherman
A small 6×9 abstract pastel painting of a boy fishing. The picture was created on a piece of Strathmore drawing paper. I spent the day at the beach. I don’t go into the water. I just enjoy looking out over God’s creation. It inspires me. My advice today is to take some time and enjoy what is around you.
#477 Blowing in the Wind
This drawing is another of my 6×9 paintings. The painting was created using oil pastels and a #2 pencil on a piece of Strathmore paper. Someone once said, I don’t know who, that in order to love what you do you have to do what you live. I love art and would love to work as an artist full time. The fear have is this, too much of a good thing is not always a good thing. In other words would art lose its appeal. I don’t know but I would sure love to find out. So ends my wisdom for today.
#477 Blue Vase
The Blue Vase is my first foray into oil pastels. The painting is done on 6×9 Strathmore drawing paper. Oil pastels I thought would be similar to crayons but their not. They’re much more pliable and colorful. I will continue to play with oil pastels creating more art with the medium in the future. Learning something new in life is like learning something new in art. You have to jump, no be afraid to take chances and above all keep going.

I like abstract art because the object is to create without restrictions. This one is done in soft pastel on 9×12 maroon paper. Life I think is abstract because we try to live like there are no restrictions. The problem is like the painting there are no clear definitions of how we should be living. That is why I am so thankful we have God’s Word because I can open the Bible and find a clear definition for living my life.

I love to repurpose old book pages and use them to create art. Today’s offering is another in my series of fashion art pieces. I have added some wording to the page. Something new I’m trying. The piece started out as a pen drawing highlighted with soft pastel.

I know it has been spring for several days now but it hasn’t really felt like spring. However the temps are going up so now I feel it is time to declare, Spring has sprung. The painting was done using pen, pastels, and some highlights in acrylic.

I painted this picture using colored pencils and soft pastels. I chose it because it looked so peaceful and serene. Sitting at the beach watching the waves. Oh yeah and I’m a sucker for puppies.
