#482 The Cactus

I get a lot compliments about the art I put on old book pages. The Cactus is done an 8 x 11 in page from the early 1900’s. The picture is done in watercolors and highlighted in ink. Don’t get mad at me the book was falling apart and there was not cover. I think the letter in the background provide a good backdrop for art. In life it is not always important to be at the front. Offering good and faithful background help sometimes is more important.

#469 Yellow Bird

I rarely try my hand at rendering birds because I am not totally satisfied with the results. Here is my latest attempt. I created this one using Prismacolor pencils over a light pencil drawing. As an artist I look at the world around and see opportunities for art.some of them appear to difficult but I try them anyway. As a Christian I look at the world around me and see what God sees, people. Some of them appear difficult and unfriendly but when you take the time you soon find they are just like you, people in need of a new way.

#468 Yellow Flowers in Vase

I created this piece of art work on an old book page using Prismacolor pencils and highlights in ink. I have no words of wisdom today except this, strive to be the best you, you can possibly be, because there is no one in this world like you.

#451 Orange Pansy

A simple little picture created on an old book page with color pencil and soft pastel. I believe I am turning into a flower artist. I don’t know why it just seems to be happening. I like the idea that each flower is unique and there are many colorful varieties. Well anyway I hope you like my flowers.

# 449 Guitar Man

A color pencil drawing done on a 9 x 11 old book page. I wanted to add a caption to this one but could not think of one. I will add one later when inspiration kicks in and one pops into my mind. One thing I have discovered in life is that some things come when they come. It is when we get impatient and forge ahead that we get ourselves into trouble.

#428 Sunflower

The sunflower is an interesting flower. As it grows it faces the sun even at times twisting itself towards the sunlight. The sunflower is a reminder to us that as followers of Jesus we must always keep our gaze towards the Son even twisting ourselves so our gaze does not waver. The painting is created on an 8×11 old book page in soft pastel and outlined in pen.

#426 Flower In the Moonlight?

There are three things in life I truly love God, my family and friends and art. There is something about taking a blank piece of paper or a canvas and adding lines and co,or. In the end you have a created drawing which may or may not have turned out the way you wanted but you are still thrilled by your creation. The age old debate is whether we were created by God or not. I believe we were and in Genesis, before the fall, the Bible tells us that He loved His creation. Even after the creation was marred by sin He set into motion the plan to bring us back to Him. Skeptical? Then examine the evidence for yourself. The drawing today is done on a 7 1/2 by 11 1/2 old book page using soft pastels.

#423 Sitting On The Step

Back in the day one of my favorite things was to sit on my porch and watch the world around me. Those times seemed a lot less stressful and a lot more fun. A recent reacquaintance with someone whom I held dear in my younger years and who is still dear to me to this day reminded me of the importance of holding onto those people who occupy a place in our hearts. God wants us to love Him first but to also love others around us especially those we love in our hearts. I think these porch time gatherings are a way to remember the joy of friendship. The drawing is done on color pencil and ink on a 9×12 old book page.

#415 Red Dress Sitting Around

This is the newest entry in a series of paintings I’m doing with depictions of seated models. This one like the rest is on a 6 1/2 by 8 old book page. It is illustrated using soft pastels and color pencils. I hope you like the drawing. I have no message for today other than to say to get better at anything you must put your faith in God and trust Him to guide you.
